Lady Gaga ‘reassembles shattered mirror’ to create ‘Mayhem’ on new studio album

Lady Gaga is planning some “Mayhem” for 2025.

The megastar will unveil her seventh studio album, which she’s calling a return to her pop roots, on March 7.

“The album started as me facing my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved,” Gaga said of “Mayhem” in a release. She equated the process of creating the album as “reassembling a shattered mirror: even if you can’t put the pieces back together perfectly, you can create something beautiful and whole in its own new way.”

The cover of Lady Gaga's upcoming seventh studio album, "Mayhem," due March 7.

The 14-track album will include the previously released goth-pop of “Disease” as well as her No. 1 smash with Bruno Mars, “Die with a Smile.”

A third single is planned to debut during a commercial break at the Grammy Awards, which air Sunday on CBS and Paramount+. A full tracklist will be released at a later date.

“Mayhem” follows Gaga’s fall release of “Harlequin,” a spectacular jazz/big band offering that she crafted as a complement to the “Joker: Folie à Deux” film, in which she co-starred with Joaquin Phoenix as Harley Quinn.

Lady Gaga's "Mayhem" album, out March 7, is her first pop offering since 2020's "Chromatica."

The upcoming album is Gaga’s first true pop offering since 2020’s “Chromatica,” which spawned the hits “Stupid Love” and “Rain on Me” with Ariana Grande.

Gaga, who has won 13 Grammys in her career, is also among a slate of high-profile music stars who will perform at Thursday’s FireAid concerts in Los Angeles to benefit people and communities affected by the recent devastating LA wildfires. The shows, featuring Billie Eilish, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, Olivia Rodrigo, Katy Perry and dozens of other artists, will take place simultaneously at the Intuit Dome (where Gaga will perform) and Kia Forum and be broadcast on numerous platforms, including Apple Music, SiriusXM, YouTube, iHeartRadio stations and Veeps.
